CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING

v  Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a conception of teaching and learning that helps teachers relate subject matter content to real world situations and motivates students to make connections between knowledge and its applications to their lives as family members, citizens, and workers.

v       Benefits for Students

-       Promotes higher order thinking and problem solving,
-       Promotes student engagement and involvement,
-       Relates what student is learning to real world problems and their lives, and
-       Promotes authentic methods of assessment.

v            Example of contextual teaching

English teacher and Biology teacher doing collaborative in a class. They give the students some pictures of part of  flower and human body in Indonesia form. They want their students to find out about it using English form. So, the students will understand about it in the class and their real life.
